Aurora: If they had a robust process to examine failures......

Aurora's latest fault. If they had a robust process to examine failures, which they don't, they would be probably be checking the condition of the wiring in homes connected to this circuit. There is plenty of evidence of lines clashing so there is at least the possibility of phase to neutral contact.
That raises the possibility of wiring and appliance damage - especially to the house earths. That sort of damage can go unnoticed for years, until a second fault shows up the damaged earth.
How did it happen? Have a look at the photos. Its pretty obvious. To help Aurora, who simply wouldn't have a clue even if they did look for a cause, it wasn't wind and it wasn't a faulty bolt.
What was the danger? The lines were either close to or on the ground. They were certainly alive for some time looking at the arc damage. One line was strung low completely across an intersection - I wouldn't have wanted to run into that one either.
The worst part? This is a new installation.
